On April 10, the Academy made public the nominations and event timeline across its social media platforms. The ceremony is slated to occur at its traditional venue, the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

An important change to note is the advancement of next year’s ceremony by approximately a week. This year, the Oscars took place on March 10. Continuing the tradition, ABC will broadcast the Academy Awards. In 2025, the event is set to kick off at 7 p.m., an hour earlier than its customary time. This shift is particularly welcomed by viewers on the East Coast, who find the adjusted telecast time more convenient, hopeful that it will better align with their bedtime, given the duration of the show.
Previously, many struggled to stay awake for the entirety of the event, often missing out on the Best Picture announcement.
The deadline for general entries and submissions for Best Picture is November 14. Following this, the votes for shortlisting the entries will occur between December 9 and December 13.
